DIY Homemade Italian Wholemeal Breadcrumbs...

We hardly eat bread this days. Looks like hubby is no longer keen on breads. I have to bin away half of the bread last round. I almost did this time round (two days old bread). Good thing I still manage to salvage them for some homemade Italian breadcrumbs.

All you need is leftover bread (preferably not more than 2 days), a pinch of marjoram, sage, rosemary, basil, Italian parsley, sage, thyme, oregano, garlic powder and salt. Alternatively, use Schwartz Italian herb seasoning. Blend them in food processor.

Bake the crumbs in oven for 5 to 10 minutes (till they turn almost brown and crisp). This can be done in both conventional and halogen oven.

Transfer them in airtight container. I stored mine in Nescafe Black Gold bottle (doing every little bit to save the environment *ahem*).

Good thing about making your own breadcrumbs is that you are sure they are free from any colouring. It is more beneficial if you can bake your own breads too. That way you are sure your breads are free from preservatives :). It is so easy any beginners can do it. The whole process takes less than half an hour.
